Weekly Research 3

This week in Vault, I began taking notes and annotating new sources. I had a productive week. I learned new facts about marketing and advertising. Something interesting I learned is that the “4 Ps of Marketing” are constantly changing and evolving. Marketing techniques have to constantly change due to improvements and innovations in technology. The same marketing techniques today are not the same as the ones twenty years ago. I also discovered that I want to start shifting my topic towards “show business” because I found that this idea ties all of my ideas together because it incorporates, both, marketing and advertising. I also found a book called “There’s No Business That’s Not Show Business.” This book provides insight to my idea of following the topic of show business. It includes case studies of success and non-success stories, which will be beneficial to my learning.

As I am beginning to think about who I would like my advisor to be, I have taken into account many factors that would make a good advisor for me and my process. I would like someone who is always around and is easy to communicate with. I want someone who I am comfortable with and not intimidated by, so they can support me when I am either having doubts or blanking out. I talked to Mrs. Fazely during a meeting with her about who she thinks would help me in my topic the most and she recommended Mrs. Rome, Coach Hoang, Mr. Posey, or Dr. Pritchard. Mr. Posey is my advisor and I have a great relationship with him, so I think we would work well together. Mrs. Rome, Coach Hoang, and Dr. P are all well educated on business and marketing, so they would all be beneficial in giving me new ideas and educating me. Either way I think any of these advisors would be great candidates, each unique in their own way. I think I will need to schedule meetings with all of them to help me choose the right advisor.
